Nico & the Nine: Chapter I
Fandom: Percy Jackson and the Olympians / Heroes of Olympus
After the war against Gaea, Nico di Angelo is expected to spend three days in the infirmary under the care of Will Solace. Though these three days are anything but uneventful, things get really complicated when Apollo appears with a new quest to restore the power of prophecy.
Just recently finished Blood of Olympus and I was shocked how quickly I fell in love with Solangelo. Shocked enough to return to fanfiction after a four-year hiatus and a purging of my old stories. Hopefully this time goes better than the first.
I’ve also recently re-entered tumblr after deleting my old account, and as such, have a rather pitiful amount of followers. Not to self-promote too much, of course, but the reblog and follow buttons are like, right there. No pressure
Nico di Angelo followed Will through the Apollo cabin, to a set of stairs at the back that he had never seen before. Not that he had ever spent a lot of time in the Apollo cabin. Sunshine and music were two things that didn’t tend to hang around him, as a son of Hades.
That was what had defined him almost entirely for the past few years of his life. Death. The death of his sister, Bianca. The death of the spirits he ended up spending almost all his time with. The deaths that fuelled his powers in the war against Kronos, and then later, Gaea.
But now both those wars were over, and he didn’t know what he was supposed to be doing now.
Well, Will Solace certainly seemed to think he knew, and was rather upfront about that, which led him to where he was now, Cabin Seven.
Later, they told him what happened. All he remembered was the screaming.
According to Reyna, the air around him dropped to freezing. The ground blackened. In one horrible cry, he unleashed a flood of pain and anger on everyone in the clearing. Reyna and the coach experienced his journey through Tartarus, his capture by the giants, his days waiting inside that bronze jar. They felt Nico’s anguish from his days on the Argo II, and his encounter with Cupid in the ruins of Salona.
They heard his unspoken challenge to Bryce Lawrence, loud and clear: You want secrets? Here.
The spartoi disintegrated into ashes. The rocks of the cairn turned white with frost. Bryce Lawrence stumbled, clutching his head, both nostrils bleeding.
Nico marched toward him. He grabbed Bryce’s probatio tablet and ripped it off his neck.
‘You aren’t worthy of this,’ Nico growled.
The earth split under Bryce’s feet. He sank up to his waist. ‘Stop!’ Bryce clawed at the dirt and the plastic bouquets, but his body kept sinking.
‘You took an oath the the legion,’ Nico’s breath steamed in the cold. ‘You broke its rules. You inflicted pain. You killed your own centurion.’
‘I—I didn’t! I—’
‘You should have died for your crimes,’ Nico continued. ‘That was the punishment. Instead you got exile. You should have stayed away. Your father Orcus may not approve of broken oaths. But my father Hades REALLY doesn’t approve of those who escape punishment.’
That word didn’t make sense to Nico. The underworld had no mercy. It only had Justice.
‘You’re already dead,’ Nico said. ‘You’re a ghost with no tongue, no memory. You won’t be sharing any secrets.’
‘NO!’ Bryce’s body turned dark and smoky. He slipped into the earth, up to his chest. “No, I am Bryce Lawrence! I’m alive!’
‘Who are you?’ Nico asked.
The next sound from Bryce’s mouth was a chattering whisper. His face became indistinct. He could have been anyone— just another nameless spirit among millions.
‘Begone,’ Nico said.
The spirit dissipated. The earth closed.

Okay can we just talk about this? *SPOILERS*
Nico turned Bryce into a spirit and damned him to hell because he was going to make Reyna confess her secrets. He didn’t want anyone to have to go through what hes had to go through. This part of the book is one of my favorite parts and yet it is absolutely terrifying what that darling precious baby angel can do.
Sorry it was so long!(via we-have-our-dragons)
Then she did something so unexpected Nico would later think he dreamed it. She walked up to Nico, who was standing to one side in the shadows, as usual. She grabbed his hand and pulled him gently into the firelight.
“We had one home,” she said. “Now we have two.”
She gave Nico a big hug and the crowd roared with approval. For once, Nico didn’t feel like pulling away. He buried his face in Reyna’s shoulder and blinked the tears out of his eyes.
what if when they get older and married will and nico adopt a kid and it turns out that she’s bianca’s reincarnation
and nico finds out and he just starts getting really upset and actually starts crying and since she sorta remembers her past life his daughter starts crying too and they hug
and finally when they break apart she says “i guess its your turn to be the older one”
going to hell now bye
wainwright-and-cartwright asked: im just coming to u cause im going thru the fucking solangelo tag and i feel ur post the most so hi im a lame shipper too got any headcannons to share?
OH BOY DO I
- I feel that the beginning of their relationship is really rocky? Like, Will doesn’t know what’s really happened to Nico, so he can get kinda irritated at Nico’s ‘broodiness’ and Nico is awful at talking about his emotions (bottling them up until he explodes) and won’t explain why he gets so depressed about stuff?
- It takes Percy like, a month to figure out what Nico meant and then he’s all aboard the ‘let’s get Nico a boyfriend’ train but he’s so oblivious it hurts. But he’s so genuinely delighted for Nico that no one can really get mad at him.
- Nico can sing.
- Will cannot.
- Will is really good at getting Nico to talk about how he’s feeling and helping him get through/past his issues and doesn’t try to devalue them or dismiss them. For a kid who’s been hurt emotionally so much, it’s really soothing.
- They don’t really like PDA, but they like skin-touching (hand-holding, hugs, being pressed to each other’s sides.)
- Jason sits Nico down and gives him a safe sex talk. It doesn’t really go that well and Nico spends about a week going absolutely scarlet whenever he sees Will.
- Remarkably, their godly parents are totally okay with them dating each other, but Aphrodite keeps trying to spice up their romantic life, which ranges from funny/cute to outright terrifying and awful.
And that’s all I have right now. Boy do I have a lot of feelings.
"Reyna had always thought of Jason Grace as the all-American boy. Thalia looked more like the girl who robbed all-American boys at knifepoint in an alley."
-Blood of Olympus
I can just imagine Hades talking to Apollo like “if your son breaks Nico’s heart, to the Fields of Punishment he will go!”
